Stuck Indoors

We've hit that lovely time in Minnesota when you have to hunker down inside.  The girls have found new interests and thank goodness they have been playing together fairly nicely.  While they still fight over toys, they mostly laugh, work together, and play strange games where Pip is the 4-year old mom and Nina is her baby kitty.

Randomly, we watched an episode of MasterChef Junior and it has become the new family favorite.  It's funny to hear their reactions and we've caught Pip yelling "Yes, Chef" on a few occasions.  Nina's new educational interest is learning American Sign Language.  She likes watching youtube videos and practicing new words.  Nina's other interest is Calvin and Hobbes.  While she mostly likes the panels involving slapstick, she gets the general idea of Calvin's silliness and trouble-making.  This giant snow octopus reminded us of a Calvin creation.

The girls have started taking gymnastics and are excited to be in the same class.  They listened pretty well and are really looking forward to going back next week.  Other indoor activities include going to the zoo, the library, and meeting their newest pseudo-cousin, Clara, last weekend.  She's adorable!

We've reached half-birthday week here in the Nak household and it is somewhat alarming that Nina is five-and-a-half and nearing six.  That seems a bit too old for comfort.  2015 was very good to us and we're very blessed to have the family and year that we did.  Our yearly video won't upload to blogger, but here is a link to watch it on google.

It was great to have Nana and Papa visit during her birthday and we thank them for making the trip up to Minnesota when most people are running away.  The girls always have fun with them and going to their favorite spots.  This year, they even got to take Nana sledding!

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

2015 has come to a close and 2016 begins and the Naks are riding high.  We have been enjoying vacation and precious time together.  From family movie nights watching "Inside Out", to sledding, to making cookies, to reading "Elephant and Piggie" books, we've had a lot of time relaxing.

We were all excited to have cousin Maggie come over for a sleepover.  We got to go sledding, to the library, to the children's museum, play games, and watch Mary Poppins.  The girls miss her and can't wait to do it again.  We miss the fact that she made our girls fight less.
