Why crawl when you can fall?

Nina is very active these days: rolling, kicking, working her abs, trying to crawl and stand. Her favorite activity yesterday was pretending like she was going to stand and then falling down.

Here comes the sun

It's been a balmy 40 degrees this weekend and we loved the opportunity to get outside again. Going on walks and feeling the sun shine down on us lifted our spirits and made Nina jump for joy. We watched some hockey at the rec center next door and even got to grill some cheeseburgers! Lately she's been trying to crawl and she likes to sit up in her crib when her nap is done.

Out and about

Nina refuses to stay cooped up despite the ridiculously cold winter. Yesterday, we went to the Cleveland Wok and Target. Both trips had some noteable moments. Nina ate her oatmeal and pears at the table in the high chair and then wanted to wash it down with some water. She grabbed the straw. As Kara asked, "How will we know if she actually gets any water?," Nina jolted backward and gave a huge smile to let us know she'd done it. Here are some low-quality phone photos. Nina is already well-loved at the Wok with the entire staff, especially the owner, who holds and talks to Nina every time she sees her.

Nina is also proud to be able to sit in the shopping cart like all the other big kids. We didn't think she could love shopping at Target any more, but she was thrilled to have a better view and the opportunity to taste every item put in the cart.

7 Months

Nina's 7 month birthday is a big one. She got her first haircut today, thanks to Nana! It's also her first Super Bowl; she may be too partied out to go to daycare tomorrow. She's looking "cute as a button" in an outfit from Jake and Kelsey.

Nina is getting her top teeth so her eating & sleeping schedule have been thrown off a bit. Her current favorite activities include playing with her ball, trying to crawl, turning the pages of her book, and trying to convince mom to let her stand on her own. She likes trying to stand next to the dishwasher, what a silly girl.

Who do I look like?

In her early days, many people thought that Nina looked a lot like her mom. As she continues to grow, a few people have commented about how she looks like her dad. We dug through the archives and found two photos to help make some comparisons.

The Children's Museum

For Grandma and Grandpa's Christmas present, Nina took them to the Children's Museum to see the traveling exhibit, Japan and Nature. There were many toys, kids, and games for her to enjoy. We're excited to go again.
