School's done, summer fun!

School ended well for most everyone and the Naks are happy to be in summer mode.  Reading books, hanging out with family and friends, and eating.  Nina finished middle school and is mostly happy to be done with it.  Vivian ended 6th grade with some student of the year awards.  Ben enjoyed seeing the first graduating class at the 9-12 high school.  Kara is happy to be done with this year's class.

We were very happy to have Cassie back in town as well as Shane and his boys.  It has been good to see everyone and catch up!

We jumped right into summer with a visit from Jake, Kelsey, Henry, Paige, Jack, and Papa.  It was a fun-filled week with parks, a baseball game, activities, pools, exploring, the zoo, the MOA and plenty of food.  We greatly miss Jenni's presence for all of it, but we were glad to spend time together.

Nina went on a trip to the Wisconsin Dells with her friend and their family and had an exciting time with plenty of swimming, waterslides, mini-golf, go karts, and crafts.  Pip loved spending time with grandma, grandpa and the Solseths while Ben and Kara hung out with other friends and caught a Loons game.

Bring on more summer!

Winding down

Spring is here and all things school-related are coming to a close.  The girls finished this year's Chinese lessons very strong and both earned a trophy for their performances on an exam.  Pip has finished gymnastics lessons for the season and has started skateboarding and playing some tennis around the neighborhood.  Both girls had band concerts and played well in their shows.  It's wild that Nina is finishing 8th grade and will soon join Ben at the high school.

April saw a lot of animals around our neighborhood as the geese and ducks had their little ones, our yard bunnies might have had kits, the swans returned to the lake for a while, and the turtles are back out.  It's fun to see them all return and see other random animals visit too.  Easter was fun and we also got some extra family time when we went to watch some of Maggie's volleyball tournaments, and she got to stay with us between games.

We enjoyed going to one regular season Frost game and then went to a playoff game which ended up being the championship.  The game winner in overtime was scored right in front of us and Ben told the girls to soak it up as it's the first time he's ever witnessed a Minnesota team win a championship and it could be a long time until we see another.  Thank goodness for our women's teams!  As the weather gets warmer outside the hockey arena, it's been fun for both girls to get out golfing.  Ben's hoping for more of that.
