Pip turns 13 and we rapidly approach the door-slamming phase of their upbringing. Both girls are currently pretty nice to one another and still like spending time with us, so we are doing our best to enjoy it.
Vivian had a good first year of middle school and enjoyed switching classes and meeting new people. She kept most of her core group of friends from elementary, but made some new ones too. She did well academically and started trombone.
Nina is old! :) She starts driver's ed tomorrow and we can't believe how quickly it's going. She had a good year and finished middle school. She's proud of her work in Chinese, where she won a trophy for her efforts, she earned straight As, and she fulfilled her goal of taking more photos with her friends. Highlights of her year include going to the weezer concert, the road trip last August, time with family, seeing the MN Frost win the PWHL (and the Lynx win game 4 in the WNBA Finals), watching the school plays, babysitting more often, and playing the nintendo as a family.
School ended well for most everyone and the Naks are happy to be in summer mode. Reading books, hanging out with family and friends, and eating. Nina finished middle school and is mostly happy to be done with it. Vivian ended 6th grade with some student of the year awards. Ben enjoyed seeing the first graduating class at the 9-12 high school. Kara is happy to be done with this year's class.
We jumped right into summer with a visit from Jake, Kelsey, Henry, Paige, Jack, and Papa. It was a fun-filled week with parks, a baseball game, activities, pools, exploring, the zoo, the MOA and plenty of food. We greatly miss Jenni's presence for all of it, but we were glad to spend time together.
Nina went on a trip to the Wisconsin Dells with her friend and their family and had an exciting time with plenty of swimming, waterslides, mini-golf, go karts, and crafts. Pip loved spending time with grandma, grandpa and the Solseths while Ben and Kara hung out with other friends and caught a Loons game.
Bring on more summer!
