Happy and Sad

Nina is usually pretty happy, but she has learned how to pout. We are told Kara learned a similar tactic at a young age as well. It's not easy to capture the full bottom lip protruding, but we've gotten a progression and we're close. We'll try to catch it in the future, because nothing cheers up a sad baby like shoving a camera in her face.

Getting bigger all the time

Nina continues to grow as she is now around 23 inches and weighed in at 11 lbs 1 oz! She is smiling more, still kicking, and unhappy about a bit of a heat rash in the warm weather. Nina is happy to have Gramma Jenni back in town, and Ben and Kara don't mind the extra sleep.

We need to give a big shout-out to some generous friends who have lent us things we don't know how we could have done without. Nina is a pretty agreeable baby, but a few things have been remarkably good at calming her down when she is upset.

Many thanks to the Howards for lending us a bed swing that rocks Nina to sleep at night and big thanks to the Tranby family for the kangaroo carrier. The last three days, if Nina is extremely unhappy, we strap her in and go for a walk around the block. She honestly stops crying within 2 steps of leaving our porch.

The Richardsons have made multiple trips to make sure Nina has a place to sleep on every level of the house. :) They brought over a bassinet and a cradle that have been in the family for many years.

One Month Old!

Nina had her one month birthday today and is excited to celebrate with family in Burnsville.  She enjoys walking outside in her mini-carrier.  Remember, Nina is actually Hebrew for "God's Grace," so Emily Perron wins a prize for perfect premonition.  Here is a slideshow of Nina's first 31 days to Ben Folds's "Gracie."

Active Girl

Nina continues to love to kick, and she enjoys dancing to music. She met John and Amanda who were so nice as to bring over dinner, what great people. Otherwise Nina has been hanging out and trying to smile more.

Where did July go!?

Nina has been keeping busy these days. She visited Annie and Adam's, hung out with the Nak Grandparents, went to the Cathedral, Roseville Central Park, the Javatrain Cafe, and Mama's Pizza Parlor. Nina's 3 favorite games so far are:

1) Spitting out her pacifier even though she really wants it
2) Scratching her own face when she gets excited
3) Kicking off any blanket that tries to cover her legs
