Tree Lighting Ceremony

YCIS had its festive kickoff to the holiday season and Nina had her first volunteer experience at the student council tent.  The music and lights were very fun and helped us to get in the spirit of Christmas since our 70 degree temps are not.  It is supposed to cool down this week and all of China is bracing itself. Our elf, Marwin, has returned and we're getting very excited for all our upcoming events.  Vivian is excited for her Christmas play and has been reciting songs and lines, Nina is into her secret santa event, and we are all eager to get to vacation when we'll be making trips to Xi'an and Hong Kong.

Other goings-on include taking in a concert to see a full Chinese orchestra, a couple trips to the movies (Wreck it Ralph and Fantastic Beasts), and Kara booked a hotel room for a girls' night.  Our girls swam twice, Kara and some friends enjoyed treats, watched holiday movies, and relaxed in sweats. Vivian received an award at school for her "Enthusiasm and Good Behaviour" in Chinese class.  Nina received the Proud Dad award after she shouted, "Hey, we're walking here" in Chinese at a scooter that got too close to us on the sidewalk.

Overall we continue to feel blessed that we can communicate with so many people so easily.  From our frequent skype sessions with close family, to funny texts and messages with friends, it is so nice to keep in touch.
